Retizen CBO continued its community football tournament activities on Sunday, 14th June 2026,
at Kamobo Primary and Junior School. The event brought together youths and community
members from various areas to participate in football matches aimed at promoting talent
development, community interaction, and positive youth engagement. The tournament served as
an opportunity for young people to utilize their talents while strengthening relationships among
different communities through sports.
The event attracted a larger turnout than the previous day’s tournament, with attendance
increasing to 173 participants and supporters. This increase was a clear indication that the
community continues to appreciate and support the initiatives being implemented by Retizen
CBO. The presence of more community members, parents, and youth supporters demonstrated
growing confidence in the organization’s efforts to empower young people through constructive
activities.
Match Day Activities
Activities commenced at approximately 10:00 a.m. with the arrival of teams and supporters. The
women’s category consisted of St. Peters, Tugioin, and Diraa Queens, while the men’s category
featured Arbing and Nottingham. The teams were well prepared and eager to participate in the
day’s fixtures.
Throughout the tournament, the matches were played in a friendly and competitive spirit. Players
demonstrated commitment, teamwork, and determination while supporters created an energetic
atmosphere by cheering on their teams. The football field remained active throughout the day as
participants engaged enthusiastically in the games.
Apart from the competition itself, the tournament provided a space for interaction among youths
from different communities. Many participants took the opportunity to build new friendships and
strengthen existing relationships, making the event more than just a sporting activity. The
tournament concluded successfully at approximately 3:20 p.m.
Growing Community Support
One notable observation from the day’s activities was the increase in community participation
compared to Saturday’s event. Attendance rose from 142 participants on 13th June to 173
participants on 14th June 2026. This growth reflected the increasing interest in the football
tournament and the positive reputation that Retizen CBO continues to build within the
community.
Community members not only attended the event but also actively supported it in various ways.
Their presence encouraged the players and contributed to the positive atmosphere experienced
throughout the day. The increased turnout served as evidence that local residents recognize the
value of youth-focused programs and are willing to support initiatives that promote positive
development among young people.
Achievements Recorded
The tournament successfully provided young people with an opportunity to engage in
meaningful recreational activities while showcasing their football abilities. The event encouraged
teamwork, cooperation, and mutual respect among participants. It also created a platform where
youths could spend their time productively and interact positively with their peers.
Another achievement was the high level of discipline displayed throughout the tournament.
Players conducted themselves respectfully during the matches, and supporters maintained good
behavior throughout the event. The peaceful nature of the tournament contributed greatly to its
success and demonstrated the maturity and responsibility of the participating youths.
The tournament further strengthened the relationship between Retizen CBO and the community.
Through continued engagement and support for youth activities, the organization continues to
build trust and create opportunities that benefit young people and the wider community.
Challenges and Community Response
The main challenge experienced during the tournament was the intense heat throughout the day.
The strong sunshine affected both players and spectators and increased the need for drinking
water. As the event progressed, the available water supply became insufficient to meet the needs
of all participants.
Despite this challenge, community members and friends of the organization stepped in and
provided tap water from nearby homes and compounds. Their willingness to assist demonstrated
the spirit of cooperation that exists within the community and helped ensure that the tournament
continued successfully without major interruptions.
Reflections from Participants and Community Members
Participants expressed satisfaction with the organization of the tournament and appreciated the
opportunity to take part in the matches. Many players noted that such activities provide an
important platform for showcasing talent while helping young people remain actively engaged in
positive pursuits.
Community members also shared encouraging feedback regarding the work of Retizen CBO.
Several individuals praised the organization for its commitment to supporting youths and
creating opportunities for growth through sports. Others requested that similar tournaments be
organized more frequently and encouraged the organization to continue educating, mentoring,
and supporting community youths through additional programs and activities.
The positive remarks received from both participants and community members reflected the
impact that the tournament had on those who attended and reinforced the importance of
sustaining such initiatives.
