The name Retizen comes from “Responsible Citizen,” reflecting our core values: responsibility, empowerment, integrity, collaboration, and inclusivity. Retizen is a youth-led movement transforming Kenya’s future by promoting civic engagement, social responsibility, and sustainable development.

Founded with the mission to empower young people and women, particularly in rural areas, Retizen creates opportunities for individuals to become informed leaders and agents of positive change in their communities. Our vision for 2024–2028 is to expand Retizen’s impact, fostering a generation of socially conscious and economically empowered individuals who drive transformative change.
