Our Story
In 2022, five passionate Kenyans came together with a shared vision: to inspire a generation of young leaders who would shape a future grounded in integrity and responsibility. From this vision, Retizen was born—a name that reflects our commitment to empowering young people to become REsponsible ciTIZENs.
Our founders recognized a growing need to nurture the next generation of leaders, people who would not only serve their communities but actively drive positive change. With a firm belief that empowered youth can transform societies, we set out to create a movement where young people can become agents of change, ready to make a lasting impact in their communities and the country at large.
Our Mission: We empower young people to become active citizens, equipped with the skills, knowledge, and opportunities to influence their surroundings for the better. At Retizen, we believe that real change begins at the grassroots level, and we support young Kenyans in their journey to becoming community champions.
Our Approach
We don’t just talk about change—we make it happen through an innovative, four-step approach that connects youth with civic engagement in creative and practical ways:

We harness the power of sports to teach civic responsibility, integrity, and active engagement. Our sports tournaments go beyond the physical benefits—they inspire youth to work together, embrace leadership roles, and embody the values of good citizenship. - Retizen App
Our cutting-edge mobile app empowers young Kenyans to identify, report, and advocate for pressing issues in their communities. By promoting transparency and accountability, Retizen App is a tool for real, lasting change, enabling users to hold government and service providers accountable and lead initiatives for improvement. - Resource Hub
We believe access to resources should never stand in the way of advocacy. At our Resource Hub, young people have free access to internet and computers, unlocking their potential to create impactful content, advocate for good governance, and amplify their voices in ways that matter. - Retizen Soko
Our members deserve recognition and support for their efforts. Through Retizen Soko, we’ve created a trusted marketplace where young entrepreneurs can safely showcase and sell their products and services. Backed by our community, these young leaders can build businesses with transparent, fair transactions and grow their impact sustainably.
